What would you say is the biggest challenge of traveling with young kids? I’d certainly say one of the most – if not the very most – challenging thing is keeping them busy on long travel days. My 4 year old will happily watch videos mindlessly, but I’d much rather give her something that’s both educational and entertaining, so I was happy to have the opportunity to try two apps by Kidlo. I was provided with a free year-long subscription in exchange for my honest review.
Kidlo Math Games
This app has two levels – Pre-K and Kindergarten. The Pre-K level has some games starting at a level even very young kids can enjoy (like popping number balloons), while the Kindergarten option includes things like counting up to 100, addition and subtraction, and pattern recognition. My 4 year old really loves playing this game, and it has the potential to really teach her a lot. Of the two apps, this is my favorite for her because of the educational value.
KidloLand has a TON within the app! Nursery rhymes, songs, animal sounds, games, stories, flash cards, letters, numbers, colors, shapes, and more. It’s definitely one of the most comprehensive kids’ apps I’ve seen! This app is fantastic for the younger ones – my 14 month old is captivated by it, and of course, it’s perfect for those that are a little bit older learning their letters and numbers. At 4, I’d say my oldest is past the prime age for this since it won’t teach her anything new, but she still enjoys playing with the app for the entertainment value – it has plenty to keep her busy as well.
A couple of other things that are great about both of the apps. First, the overall look and feel is just bright and fun – definitely helps with keeping the attention of even the littlest ones. Second, all the little modules within each app are downloadable, which is perfect for traveling since no wifi or data plan are needed! Just be sure to open the apps and download all of the content you want in advance of your flight. Overall, I’m really impressed with these apps, and my 4 and 1 year olds both really enjoy them!
